Xtreme Gutter Guard

The guard we install, and why

When a home needs a gutter guard, we fit Xtreme, a micro-mesh guard made by Leaf Solution. The mesh is fine enough to stop leaves, needles and shingle grit while the rain runs straight through it.

  1. Stainless steel mesh. Surgical-grade stainless steel that resists corrosion. The openings are sized to stop leaves, twigs, small debris, insects and small animals.

  2. Hemmed-mesh design. The mesh is mechanically folded into the aluminum body, so it stays put after years of weather instead of coming loose.

  3. Aluminum frame. A smooth aluminum body that debris slides off, light and strong.

Cutaway of an Xtreme gutter guard panel: (1) stainless steel mesh, (2) mesh hemmed into the frame, (3) aluminum frame

Heavy-duty aluminum body. 5-foot panels. Handles up to 60 gallons of water a minute, per Xtreme.

What it keeps out

  • Leaves
  • Twigs
  • Pine needles
  • Oak tassels
  • Shingle grit
  • Roof granules
  • Nests
  • Pollen

Honest advice

Not every home needs a gutter guard

On a lot of homes, guards cause more problems than they solve, and we'd rather tell you that than sell you one. Where they do make sense, we'll fit them properly.

Usually worth it

  • Tall trees over the roof that drop leaves or needles every season.
  • Pine needles or oak tassels landing in the eavestrough.
  • A roof that's hard or unsafe to get onto.

Often not needed

  • Few or no trees near the roof.
  • Eavestrough that's leaking or sagging. Fix or replace that first; a guard won't help.
  • A roof shape where water runs off fast and heavy, which can wash over a guard.

Common questions

Leaf guard questions from London homeowners

Are gutter guards worth it?

We'll install leaf guards if you want them, but we'll be straight with you: on a lot of homes they cause more problems than they solve. We'll look at your roof and the trees around it and tell you honestly whether they make sense for your house.

Which gutter guards do you install?

Xtreme, a stainless steel micro-mesh guard made by Leaf Solution. We use one guard we trust rather than a range, so we know exactly how it performs on homes around London.

Can you put leaf guards on my existing eavestrough?

Yes, if it's in good shape. If it's leaking, sagging or near the end of its life, we'll tell you, because a guard on a failing run doesn't fix the problem underneath. See eavestrough repair.

What do leaf guards keep out?

Leaves, twigs, pine needles, oak tassels, shingle grit and roof granules, along with nests and pests. The fine mesh stops the debris and lets the rain through.

What areas do you serve?

London and the surrounding area, including Ingersoll, St. Thomas, Strathroy-Caradoc, Stratford and Aylmer. If you're nearby but not on that list, call us and ask.
